Engaging Body and Soul: Cultivating Feminine Wisdom

                                                               ATROPOS, NY 2014

Engaging Body and Soul: Cultivating Feminine Wisdom focuses on how contemporary women mediate through the complexity of their bodies to arrive at a spiritual awareness of themselves. The arguments in this book support the co-origination and co-participation of body and soul in the interpretation of women’s lives. This book discusses the works of women poets, essayists, fiction writers, and feminist philosophers of different spiritual and sexual orientations who express their thoughts and their experiences of sexuality, and how those experiences connect with their spiritual side. In and through their work they validate the richness of their experience when desire for the body of the other is not seen as interrupting with the desire for the sacred. By emphasizing the specificity of women’s experiences my intention is to emphasize the differences between them, and therefore to broaden the perspective on the sexual and spiritual biographies of contemporary women.

Memory of Touch, For Love of the Other

                                         2006

Memory of Touch, For Love of the Other provides a challenge to traditional modes of thinking and writing that separate philosophy and poetry, thought and lyricism, masculine and feminine, east and west. It allows the rigidity of identities and constructs to flow in and around one another to bring new and different meanings to old and familiar experiences of love and loss. (From Preface to Memory of Touch)
